Posting Consistently but Getting No Enquiries?

You are showing up. You are creating posts, finding photos, writing captions and trying to stay consistent.

You are showing up. You are creating posts, finding photos, writing captions and trying to stay consistent.

But the enquiries are not coming.

It is understandable to wonder whether you need to post more often, reach more people or change platforms. Sometimes visibility is part of the problem. But posting consistently does not automatically create a clear path from seeing your content to contacting your business.

Consistency gives your social media presence a foundation. It cannot compensate for unclear messaging, the wrong audience or a missing customer journey.

For an enquiry to happen, the right person usually needs to:

See your business.

Understand what you offer.

Recognise that it is relevant to them.

Trust you enough to consider taking action.

Know exactly what to do next.

Reach a page, form or contact method that works.

If one of those steps is unclear, you can post regularly without receiving the response you expected.

In this article

Does posting consistently still matter?

Are the right people seeing your content?

Can someone quickly understand what you offer?

Does your content help someone make a decision?

Are you giving people enough reason to trust you?

Is there one clear next step?

Does the page after the click continue the conversation?

Are you measuring the path to an enquiry?

What should you fix first?

When is a social media audit useful?

Does posting consistently still matter?

Yes. Consistency can help people recognise your business, understand that it is active and become familiar with what you do.

Australian Government guidance recommends posting regularly to show followers that your business is active and ready to help. It also makes an important distinction between activity and effectiveness: businesses should choose platforms based on their target audience and goals, then use performance information to decide what is working. Social media for business

Consistency gives your social media presence a foundation. It cannot compensate for unclear messaging, the wrong audience or a missing customer journey.

Before adding more posts to your calendar, check whether your existing activity is helping someone move towards an enquiry.

Are the right people seeing your content?

Reach is only useful when it includes people who may genuinely need your product or service.

A large audience that is outside your service area, cannot buy from you or is interested for the wrong reason may create views and reactions without producing enquiries.

Ask:

Who is this post specifically for?

What problem, need or goal does it connect with?

Is that person likely to use this platform?

Would they recognise themselves in the opening sentence?

Does the content make sense to someone who has never heard of the business?

The Australian Government's digital strategy guidance recommends understanding your customers, their behaviours and the online channels they use before deciding where and how to market. Develop your digital strategy

Instead of trying to speak to everyone, make each post useful to a recognisable type of customer.

Can someone quickly understand what you offer?

A potential customer may discover one post and then visit your profile.

At that point, your profile needs to answer several questions quickly:

What does this business provide?

Who is it for?

Where is the business located or who can it serve?

Why might someone choose it?

What should a potential customer do next?

If the profile is filled with general inspiration, vague industry language or a list of services without context, the visitor may not understand whether the business is relevant to them.

Read your bio and recent posts as though you know nothing about the business. Would the offer still be clear?

Clear messaging does not have to sound pushy. It should simply help the right person understand what you do and whether it may suit them.

Does your content help someone make a decision?

Posting regularly can become a production exercise. The goal becomes filling the calendar rather than helping a customer.

A potential customer may need more than a reminder that your business exists. They may need help understanding:

The problem you solve.

The signs that they might need your help.

How your service or product works.

What makes one option different from another.

What the next step involves.

What questions they should ask before choosing.

Whether your offer is appropriate for their situation.

Consider the questions customers ask before they buy. Those questions are often more useful content topics than another general promotional post.

For example, a service business could explain what happens during the first appointment. A product business could show how to choose the right option. A consultant could explain a common mistake and the first practical step to correct it.

Useful content creates understanding. That understanding can make an enquiry feel easier and more worthwhile.

Are you giving people enough reason to trust you?

People do not always enquire the first time they see a business.

They may visit the profile, read several posts, check the website or look for evidence that the business is credible and suitable.

Trust can be supported by:

Clear information about the person or team behind the business.

Real examples of the work, when appropriate and permitted.

An explanation of the process.

Consistent contact and service information.

Thoughtful answers to common questions.

Reviews or testimonials that are genuine and used with permission.

Content that demonstrates practical knowledge without making exaggerated claims.

Trust is not created by saying that a business is trustworthy. It is built by making the business understandable, consistent and easy to assess.

Is there one clear next step?

A post can be useful and relevant but still leave the reader unsure what to do.

“Contact us” may be appropriate in some situations, but it is often too broad. Contact you about what? Through which method? What will happen after they do?

A clearer next step might be:

View the service details.

Check availability.

Request a quote.

Book an introductory appointment.

Send a message with a specific question.

Apply for a focused review.

Read a related guide before deciding.

The next step should match how ready the reader is.

Someone who has just identified a problem may not be ready to purchase a complete service. They may be ready for a useful guide, a small diagnostic step or a clearer explanation of their options.

Use one primary action rather than giving the reader several competing directions.

Does the page after the click continue the conversation?

Social media is only one part of the enquiry journey.

If a post sends someone to your website, the destination page needs to continue the same message. A visitor may leave if they reach a generic homepage, cannot find the offer mentioned in the post or encounter a confusing form.

Check:

Does the page headline match what the post promised?

Is the offer explained in plain language?

Is it clear who the offer is for?

Can the visitor understand what happens next?

Does the form work on a phone?

Are unnecessary questions making the first step feel difficult?

Does the visitor receive confirmation after submitting?

The problem may not be the social post. It may be what happens immediately after the click.

Are you measuring the path to an enquiry?

Likes and comments can tell you whether people interacted with a post, but they do not show the whole customer journey.

Start with the business outcome you want, then look at the steps leading to it.

Useful questions include:

Are the posts reaching the intended audience?

Are people visiting the profile?

Are they clicking the relevant link?

Are they reaching the enquiry page?

Are they starting the form?

Are they completing it?

Are enquiries being recorded correctly?

Which posts or channels contributed to those visits?

Google Analytics recommends measuring how many people visit a website, reach a lead form, start it and submit it. Looking at each stage can help identify where people are dropping away. How to generate more leads on your website

You do not need to monitor every available number. Choose measurements that help you understand whether people are moving towards the outcome you actually want.

What should you fix first?

Avoid changing your posting frequency, visual style, content topics, offer and website all at once. If everything changes, it becomes difficult to tell what helped.

Start with this order:

Audience: Are you reaching and speaking to a relevant customer?

Clarity: Can they quickly understand what you offer?

Content: Does your content address real customer questions and decisions?

Trust: Can they see enough to feel comfortable taking the next step?

Action: Is there one clear and appropriate call to action?

Destination: Does the website, form or contact method continue the journey?

Measurement: Can you see where people are progressing or dropping away?

Find the earliest weak point and address that first.

If people are seeing the posts but not visiting the profile, review the content and audience fit.

If they visit the profile but do not click, review the offer, bio and next step.

If they reach the website but do not enquire, review the destination page, form and message continuity.

When is a social media audit useful?

An audit can help when you know that something is not working but cannot identify the first issue to address.

It should examine more than posting frequency. Depending on the depth of the audit, it may look at your profile, messaging, content, customer journey, trust signals and call to action.

You can read more in What Does a Social Media Audit Actually Check?

The aim is not to produce a long list of everything that could be changed. It is to identify which issue deserves attention first.

Not sure what is stopping the enquiries?

You may not need more posts. You may need a clearer view of what a potential customer sees when they visit your profile.

Apply for a Free Mini Social Media Audit

Chloe personally reviews one selected public Facebook or Instagram profile and identifies the clearest issue she can see, plus one practical quick win.

It is a focused mini review, not a complete strategy, content calendar, competitor analysis or account-management service.

What Does a Social Media Audit Check? | Chloe Grows

A social media audit is a structured review of how your business appears and performs across its social media accounts.

A social media audit is a structured review of how your business appears and performs across its social media accounts.

A useful audit checks more than follower numbers. It looks at whether you are using the right platforms, whether customers can understand your business, whether your content supports a clear purpose, what your performance data is showing and where the journey towards an enquiry or sale may be breaking down.

Most importantly, it should help you decide what to fix first.

That last part matters. A long list of observations may look thorough, but it is not especially useful if you finish the audit with another overwhelming to-do list.

What is a social media audit meant to achieve?

The purpose of an audit is to replace assumptions with a clearer picture of your current social media presence.

It should help answer questions such as:

Are we using social media for a defined business reason?

Can the right customer recognise that this business is for them?

Is our offer understandable?

Does our content support trust, interest or action?

Are we measuring results that match our goals?

Is there a clear next step for someone who wants to know more?

Which issue deserves attention before we create more content?

An audit is a diagnosis. It identifies what is helping, what is creating friction and what should be addressed next. A strategy takes that diagnosis further by defining the goals, audience, channel roles, content direction, measurement and longer-term plan.

Are you using the right platforms for your customers and goals?

Before reviewing individual posts, an audit should check why each account exists.

A platform may be popular without being the right priority for your business. The useful questions are:

Are your target customers likely to use this platform?

What do you want them to do there?

Does the platform suit the way customers discover or assess your offer?

Can you maintain it properly with your available time and resources?

Is each active account playing a clear role?

The Australian Government’s social media guidance for businesses recommends considering your target audience, goals, competitors and available resources when choosing platforms.

This means an audit should not automatically tell every business to be everywhere. Sometimes the better decision is to improve one or two suitable accounts instead of maintaining several unclear or neglected ones.

Can a potential customer understand your profile?

Your profile is often the first place a visitor tries to work out what your business does.

An audit should review elements such as:

profile name and handle

profile and cover images

business category

bio or About information

location or service area, where relevant

contact details

opening hours, where relevant

website or booking link

platform buttons and calls to action

pinned or featured content

The deeper question is not simply whether every field has been filled in. It is whether the information works together.

A potential customer should be able to understand:

what the business offers;

who it helps;

why they might trust it; and

what they should do next.

Business.gov.au specifically recommends reviewing social media bios and links so that important business information and the next action remain current. Improve your marketing in 60 minutes or less

A complete profile can still be unclear. An audit therefore checks both presence and meaning.

Is your offer clear enough to act on?

Many social media problems are not purely content problems.

You can publish attractive or helpful posts and still lose potential enquiries if people cannot understand what you sell, whether it is relevant to them or how to take the next step.

An audit may check:

whether the main offer is visible

whether the wording describes a real customer need

whether services or products are explained plainly

whether important conditions are easy to find

whether offers remain consistent between the profile, posts and linked page

whether the customer is being given too many competing options

This does not mean every post needs to sell something. It means your overall presence should give an interested visitor enough context to continue confidently.

Does your content have a recognisable purpose?

A content review looks for patterns rather than judging one post in isolation.

Depending on the account and available evidence, an audit may examine:

topics covered

content formats

relevance to the intended audience

clarity of hooks and captions

educational, trust-building and promotional balance

consistency of the business message

calls to action

recurring questions or objections

posts that attract useful responses

content that receives attention without supporting the business objective

The aim is not to label every post good or bad. It is to understand what job the content is doing.

For example, a post could be valuable because it:

helps a new person recognise a problem;

explains how a service works;

answers an objection;

demonstrates the business’s approach;

builds familiarity;

directs an interested person to a useful next step; or

supports an existing customer.

If recent posts feel unrelated to one another, an audit may reveal that the missing piece is not more ideas. It may be a clearer audience, message or content direction.

Are the right trust signals visible?

Before contacting an unfamiliar business, people often look for signs that it is genuine, current and capable of helping them.

Depending on the type of business, an audit may inspect:

consistent business information

current contact details

clear service or product explanations

genuine reviews or testimonials used appropriately

examples of work, products or processes

responses to comments and questions

policies or practical buying information

an active and believable business presence

claims that can be supported

Trust does not require a perfectly polished feed. It usually comes from clarity, consistency and enough evidence to make the next step feel reasonable.

An audit should also flag exaggerated, outdated or potentially misleading claims. Australian businesses are responsible for ensuring their marketing, including social media content, is not false or misleading. The Australian Government provides an overview of these obligations in its social media guidance.

Is there a clear path from interest to enquiry?

Social media rarely works as a collection of posts alone. It is part of a customer journey.

An audit should follow that journey from the perspective of a potential customer:

They find a post or profile.

They try to understand the business.

They look for enough information and trust to continue.

They select a link, button or contact method.

They reach a website, shop, booking page, form or conversation.

They decide whether to act.

Possible friction includes:

a missing or outdated link

a vague button

no visible contact method

too many link choices

a landing page that does not match the social post

a difficult form

unclear delivery, service-area or booking information

an offer that changes between the social account and website

A social media audit may not include a complete website or conversion review. It should, however, identify when the likely problem sits beyond the profile itself.

Which numbers should a social media audit review?

The answer depends on the business goal and the audit’s scope.

Possible measures include:

reach or impressions

profile or Page visits

follower or audience changes

link and button clicks

saves, shares, comments and replies

enquiries

form completions

bookings or sales where reliable tracking exists

performance by content topic or format

No single number explains the health of an account.

Engagement can show that content prompted a response, but it does not automatically show whether the right people understood the offer or moved closer to becoming customers. Low reach may be relevant, but increasing reach will not solve an unclear message or broken enquiry path.

The audit should connect each metric to a question. For example:

Awareness: Are suitable people seeing the content?

Interest: Are people visiting the profile or engaging meaningfully?

Consideration: Are they clicking for more information?

Action: Are relevant enquiries or conversions occurring?

Efficiency: Is the result worth the time, effort or advertising cost involved?

Where private analytics are unavailable, the auditor should state the limitation instead of pretending public information provides a complete performance diagnosis.

Should an audit include competitors?

A complete audit may include a focused competitor review, but it is not necessary in every scope.

Competitor research can help identify:

common customer expectations

content or information gaps

ways similar businesses explain their offers

platform choices within the market

opportunities to be clearer or more useful

It should not become an exercise in copying another business’s posts, visual style or schedule.

The relevant question is not “How do we look exactly like them?” It is “What does this comparison help us understand about our customers, position or current gaps?”

A free or limited public-profile review may reasonably exclude competitor analysis.

What should you receive at the end of an audit?

A useful audit should leave you with decisions, not just observations.

Depending on the scope, the final output may include:

a summary of what is currently clear or effective

the main issues creating confusion or friction

supporting examples

practical improvements

an order of priority

responsibilities or next steps

a review period or measurement plan

The depth should match the promise. A small public-profile review should not be described as a complete strategy. A complete audit should offer more than an automated score or a list of generic best practices.

Before agreeing to an audit, check:

which platforms are included

whether it covers public information, private analytics or both

whether content, competitors and the customer journey are included

what final document or guidance you will receive

whether implementation is included

what information or account access is required

how recommendations will be prioritised

Is a free mini audit the same as a complete social media audit?

No. A mini audit is a focused starting point. A complete audit investigates more areas and produces a deeper diagnosis or action plan.

The Chloe Grows Free Mini Social Media Audit reviews the public Facebook Page or Instagram profile you choose. It looks at the first impression, offer clarity, recent content direction, trust signals and the visible path to enquiry.

You receive:

a brief first-impression assessment

two or three obvious issues or missed opportunities

one practical quick win

the single most important area to prioritise first

It does not include a complete strategy, content calendar, competitor analysis, hashtag strategy, rebrand or account management.

That boundary is useful. If you are not yet sure what the real problem is, a small review can give you a manageable place to begin. If you already need a detailed assessment, content direction or implementation plan, a deeper service may be more appropriate.

What can you check yourself today?

Start with this short customer-view check:

Can someone tell what you sell from your profile?

Is it clear who the offer is for?

Are your business details and links current?

Do your recent posts support a recognisable message?

Can visitors see genuine reasons to trust the business?

Is there one clear next step?

Does that next step work properly?

Are you measuring something connected to your actual goal?

Can you name the single issue you should address first?

If you cannot answer the final question, do not respond by changing everything at once. Identify the earliest point in the customer journey where clarity disappears and begin there.

Not sure what your profile needs first?

If your Facebook Page or Instagram profile feels busy, inconsistent or unclear, the Free Mini Social Media Audit can give you an informed outside perspective.

Chloe will personally review the public profile you choose and identify the clearest issue to fix first, along with one practical quick win you can use straight away.

No password or account access is required. Your mini audit will be emailed within 3–5 business days. It is free, with no payment required and no obligation to purchase another service.

Get My Free Mini Audit

The point of an audit is clarity, not criticism

A useful social media audit does not punish you for an imperfect feed or hand you a collection of fashionable tactics.

It helps you understand whether the right people can find, understand and trust your business, and whether they have a sensible way to continue.

Once the real issue is visible, your next social media decision becomes much easier to make.
